Richard Nixon had said during his first term as president that he had a plan to end the Vietnam War. During the time when he was re-elected for a second term, troops were still in Vietnam and the causalities from the war were still growing. This obviously did not sit well with the general public and all of the troops who were risking their lives for a war that many believed the U.S. should not have gotten involved in. |
